Tis The Season… Part 2

By Sunday I was feeling a little sluggish because I hadn’t worked out since Thursday. I started the morning again with my standard food and set out for a run. I ended up doing 6 1/2 miles at a 9ish mile pace. I still had a very big head cold going and this was the perfect way to clean out my sinuses.IMG_4012When I got back my Dad and I decided to make some beef jerky!! We marinated the meat over night in a soy and teriyaki mixture and put it in the dehydrator for around 6-7 hours. Some of the pieces of meat were thicker than others so we took things out as they were done. The beef jerky came out awesome!!!IMG_4013 IMG_4014 IMG_4015The next culinary feat of the day was making some mulled wine. It was actually really easy, we used spiced wine, a cinnamon stick, and a few cloves. My Mom and I finished off the mulled wine and played some backgammon.IMG_4017 IMG_4018 IMG_4020 IMG_4022My Mom has been DESTROYING me in this game all week. Our tally right now is Megan 1, Mom about 11. Patheticcccc.

Dinner was AWESOME. My Dad made a bake ham and cut off some for me to just eat up in a pan. The glaze he uses is made out of Dr.Pepper so I wanted to pass on it. He made the BESTTTTT baked sweet potato. I basically melted into the potato. He also knows I have been eating a lot of kale lately so he made some kale with almond slivers, yummm. I inhaled this meal in about 3 minutes.IMG_4023Next up is Christmas Eve!!!!

  1. Mmm … mulled wine is so good! I would have made some, but alcohol in any form hasn’t appealed to me since returning from Hawaii!
