Fly Like the Windddd

Today has been a great day so far. For breakfast I had some breakfast pie. I had a giant and delicious apple mid morning, an awesome work out over lunch, then a huge salad with a new dressing. The salad was mixed greens, half a cucumber, and some ham. The dressing was a soy vinaigrette and went a little something like this:

Soy Sauce Vinaigrette
1 tbl EVOO
1/2 tbl soy sauce
1/2 tbl lemon juice
1/4 tbl apple cider vinegar
Black pepper
Garlic powder

**I ended up scaling up this recipe a little bit because I needed more for my salad, I would suggesst these ratios when you scale.

I mentioned I had hoped to do a crazy upper body work out earlier this morning and lets just say that didn’t work out so great. My arms were jello half way through and it took me 6:40. OYE. So many pushups. I hadn’t done the math prior to doing them and in total I ended up with 110 push ups. There was NO WAY I would make the climb from 1->10 and do 220. So note to self – scale work outs appropriately and don’t set yourself up for failure!!!

My run on the other hand was supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. The colder weather was amazing and I felt wonderful. Despite the fact that I didn’t get warm until mile 2, I will take crisp air over running around feeling like I’m being suffocated by a hot wet towel any day. BOOM:Every one has a different opinion of fast and slow so some of you may be thinking “poo poo, I can do that in my sleep” and others “holy smokes batman”. Well today I felt like batman. I ran around all the side neighborhoods around work and got to look at all the decorations from Halloween yesterday and was definitely entertained. Because I know you are all dying to know what my mile breakdowns were here you go: 8:26, 8:25, 7:50. Lightening speed for this one, lightening speed. It seems whenever I run with the boy it’s always a day where my legs feel like lead, I have amazing solo runs and then am all jazzed to show off to him that I can keep up with his “slow yog” and then I feel like I’m dying and running using someone elses legs, who doesn’t want to run. Running is a cruel cruel beast my friends. But if you can’t tell I’m in a great mood so obviously the moving and grooving is doing something fancy to me.

The rest of my evening will involve a good bye happy hour to an awesome coworker, cooking up a massive batch of cauliflower rice for a potluck lunch tomorrow at work, and eating some more sweet potato casserole!

Q: Brag about something – tell me something that you did that was awesome today / this week, don’t be shy!

  1. 8 min 14 sec – nice pace! This morning I was proud as heck because I held a pace of 10 min/km for 6 km… walking. This has been my goal for 3 months and today, I did it!

  2. Great job.. my brag is that I had an awesome run too! I managed to sustain a 9:42 mile pace (I just did an average cause I don’t have a garmin yet to tell me my individual paces) for 3.7 miles on Tuesday and I’m convinced it was the cooler weather. Longest distance ever run AND best pace ever run, BOOM!

  3. Wahhooo awesome run!! Today..I made the most epic breakfast and finished every last bit..it was amazing. That is my brag.
