So I finally found a picture of myself from the ten miler race I did last Sunday. BEWARE: EXTREME BEAUTY TO FOLLOW:
Yummmmm.
This was the full out sprint at the end of the race. There was a guy who had been tailing me the entire race who I found on the track so being slightly competitive I just hadddd to beat him : ) And the other people on the track, so I sprinted and I did! Being a hot sweaty mess is quite becoming I do believe…
In other news… I got LASIK Thursday! AMAZING. I was on the verge of having a complete panic attack the entire time but I held steady and when I sat up from the surgery I could see the clock. It was truly the most wonderful feeling in the world. For about 10 minutes my eyes felt like nothing had happened (aka the numbing drops hadn’t worn off yet) then for the next 4 hours my eyes were on fire. I was wearing amazing goggles:
and instructed to sleep but sleep was not coming to me, plus the goggles didn’t help. Two Valium and I still couldn’t day sleep! I finally fell asleep for an hour and a half and when I woke up my eyes felt like they were back to normal. Although I have had contacts / glasses for the last 13 years or so I feel like everything looks better than it ever did. When I’m in the car I find myself staring out the window at all of the leaves and blades of glass. It neats appreciating simple things that you take for granted other wiese. Speaking of pretty things my wonderful boyfriend surprised me with these:
Now let’s talk about being able to appreciate the really pretty things in life! This was quite the surprise and I could not have been more thankful!
In fitness news: I was able to squeeze in a 5 mile run at 7am before surgery and then today (Friday) I dragged my little brother to the indoor track around the corner. My “little” brother is really only 17 months younger than I am so it’s not like I was dragging a 10 year old around a track, he is 21 and consented to the torture.
The track was a 8 lap mile track around a hockey rink so the work out went as follows:
Let’s call this “The Run Down“
2 laps (1/4 mile)
50 Jumping Jacks
50 Crunches
2 laps
45 Jumping Jacks
45 Squats
4 laps
40 Jumping Jacks
40 Pushups
2 laps
35 Jumping Jacks
35 Crunches
2 laps
30 Jumping Jacks
30 Squats
2 laps
25 Jumping Jacks
25 Pushups
3 laps
20 Jumping Jacks
20 Crunches
3 laps
15 Jumping Jacks
15 Squats
2 laps
10 Jumping Jacks
10 Pushups
2 laps
5 Jumping Jacks
5 Crunches
5 Squats
5 Pushups
1 lap
This ended up being 3.12 miles. The two times I did 3 laps was because my brother, who apparently took a 3 week hiatus from working out, decided to walk a lap so I ran an extra so I wouldn’t be sitting waiting. We are going to do this again tomorrow and try to switch it up and just run before and after and possibly repeat twice. We will see. We kept an 8 minute pace for the running which was great! One thing I have noticed this week is that I really prefer to work out with some one rather than alone. The 5 mile run I did solo on Thursday seemed never ending, worse than the 10 mile two days previously. Plus today I felt like I could have kept going forever. Partially I think it was because I enjoyed the fact that I could out run my brother. He did smoke me on push ups though, to the point of mocking and doing diamond and one hand push ups as I struggled with girl knee ones. But I did out run him so there…
Do you find that you work out better alone or with a partner? How do you motivate yourself when you are running solo and your legs start to feel like jello?
Don't be shy... You know you wanna...
