Unfortunately we lost in soccer last night but it was a great work out, you win some you lose some right? My foot was quite pissy after the game so I decided to try barefoot running today… I signed up for a ten miler in 2 1/2 weeks and realized I haven’t run more than 6 miles in years so I couldn’t just wait for my foot to get better. Oh another fun fact! I am getting LASIK 4 days after this 10 miler and the doctor told me to leave my contacts out for a week prior, so I get to run in glasses! Which I have not done once in my life. It should be a fun / interesting race : )
Well I did not enjoy the barefoot at all. I was on a treadmill and after about 10 minutes of running my shin splints started to flare up. So I went to inclined walking and then flat walking. By the end of 30 minutes my tootsies felt like they were on pins and needles. Not ideal. I think I’ll give my foot until the weekend before I try running again.
On to kitchen disaster:
I was reading another blog that I like and came across a recipe for Artisanal Flat Buns – I decided to use wheat flour instead thought because I am a wheat gal! Well after making my first attempt into the baking world I decided that the recipe needed to be tweaked slightly to accomodate the wheat flour. The new proportions are as follows:
Ingredients:
4 cups wheat floud
3 tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt
1 packet dry yeast
2 cups warm water
olive oil spray
All the directions are the same though! Mix dry ingredients, let yeast set for 5 minutes in water, combine, roll out to whatever shape you care for, let rise for an hour and bake for 12 minutes at 400 degrees.
Note picture 4 to see the semi kitchen disaster… This was my favorite spatula!!!
